Narrative:
Received left downwind departure from cma. On crosswind, was released to change frequency. Approximately 4.5 mi east of cma, was in left turn while climbing in VFR conditions. At approximately 2500 ft MSL, a glance of a plane out our right rear window heading west, we were heading approximately 020 degrees. We never saw him up to this point. We switched to point magu approach 124.70 about 10 seconds prior to incident. Was not in contact with approach. We were approximately 10 degree pitch up, 20 degree left bank. We do left downwind departures from cma for noise abatement. If you do a left downwind departure and need to go north, you fly through oxr localizer or the VOR approach for cma. We did switch to point magu approach approximately 10 seconds prior to the incident, but was not in contact. We didn't know there was traffic there. I know we are see and avoid. I did not see the traffic because of our climb and bank attitude.

Title: VFR PA28 DEP FROM CMA EXPERIENCES NMAC AT 2500 FT WITH A BE36 ON APCH TO OXR WHILE XFER OF COM IS BEING CONDUCTED TO NTD APCH.
Narrative: RECEIVED L DOWNWIND DEP FROM CMA. ON XWIND, WAS RELEASED TO CHANGE FREQ. APPROX 4.5 MI E OF CMA, WAS IN L TURN WHILE CLBING IN VFR CONDITIONS. AT APPROX 2500 FT MSL, A GLANCE OF A PLANE OUT OUR R REAR WINDOW HDG W, WE WERE HDG APPROX 020 DEGS. WE NEVER SAW HIM UP TO THIS POINT. WE SWITCHED TO POINT MAGU APCH 124.70 ABOUT 10 SECONDS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. WAS NOT IN CONTACT WITH APCH. WE WERE APPROX 10 DEG PITCH UP, 20 DEG L BANK. WE DO L DOWNWIND DEPS FROM CMA FOR NOISE ABATEMENT. IF YOU DO A L DOWNWIND DEP AND NEED TO GO N, YOU FLY THROUGH OXR LOC OR THE VOR APCH FOR CMA. WE DID SWITCH TO POINT MAGU APCH APPROX 10 SECONDS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, BUT WAS NOT IN CONTACT. WE DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS TFC THERE. I KNOW WE ARE SEE AND AVOID. I DID NOT SEE THE TFC BECAUSE OF OUR CLB AND BANK ATTITUDE.
