Narrative:

I was making a normal approach to runway 35. The wind was last reported from 030 degrees at 11 KTS. I flared a little too high above the runway. When this was discovered, I added a little power to help prevent a hard landing. At this time, there was a gust of wind from the right. I attempted to correct with the ailerons, but the correction was too slow and the left wingtip struck runway 35. This caused the plane to turn to the left. The plane ended up on all 3 landing gear and rolled off the runway where it stopped. At this point, I noticed from the windsock indication that the wind had changed direction and was blowing directly across runway 35 at a speed of around 15 KTS. The runway and runway lights were not damaged. The only damage to the plane was on the left wingtip and left aileron. I didn't adjust enough for the crosswind in a C150. Most of my experience is in a C172 which doesn't need as much correction. I will take additional crosswind landing training to learn how to correct for strong xwinds.

Title: RWY EXCURSION WHEN A C150 PLT IS UNABLE TO ADJUST TO A XWIND RESULTING IN THE L WING CONTACTING THE GND DURING LNDG.

Narrative: I WAS MAKING A NORMAL APCH TO RWY 35. THE WIND WAS LAST RPTED FROM 030 DEGS AT 11 KTS. I FLARED A LITTLE TOO HIGH ABOVE THE RWY. WHEN THIS WAS DISCOVERED, I ADDED A LITTLE PWR TO HELP PREVENT A HARD LNDG. AT THIS TIME, THERE WAS A GUST OF WIND FROM THE R. I ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT WITH THE AILERONS, BUT THE CORRECTION WAS TOO SLOW AND THE L WINGTIP STRUCK RWY 35. THIS CAUSED THE PLANE TO TURN TO THE L. THE PLANE ENDED UP ON ALL 3 LNDG GEAR AND ROLLED OFF THE RWY WHERE IT STOPPED. AT THIS POINT, I NOTICED FROM THE WINDSOCK INDICATION THAT THE WIND HAD CHANGED DIRECTION AND WAS BLOWING DIRECTLY ACROSS RWY 35 AT A SPD OF AROUND 15 KTS. THE RWY AND RWY LIGHTS WERE NOT DAMAGED. THE ONLY DAMAGE TO THE PLANE WAS ON THE L WINGTIP AND L AILERON. I DIDN'T ADJUST ENOUGH FOR THE XWIND IN A C150. MOST OF MY EXPERIENCE IS IN A C172 WHICH DOESN'T NEED AS MUCH CORRECTION. I WILL TAKE ADDITIONAL XWIND LNDG TRAINING TO LEARN HOW TO CORRECT FOR STRONG XWINDS.
