Narrative:
I was flying over the gulf inlet with an mei. We failed the left engine by pulling the mixture and feathering the propeller. After completing some single engine demonstrations, we attempted several times to restart the engine. We elected to land at ZZZ and try to get the propeller unfeathered on the ground. On landing, the right main touched down followed by the left. I felt the left main touch and give way and the wing started to sink. When the wing touched the ground, the nose started to collapse and the right engine became in danger of a propeller strike, so I pulled its mixture. No one was hurt nor was the airport damaged. I was unaware that the gear locks are hydraulic. In the piper seminole, if the gear is released springs will pull it down and lock into place. I am unfamiliar with the finer points on this aircraft's system and was in the middle of a 15 hour check out for rental.

Title: PA23 GEAR COLLAPSE ON LNDG WITH L ENG SHUTDOWN.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING OVER THE GULF INLET WITH AN MEI. WE FAILED THE L ENG BY PULLING THE MIXTURE AND FEATHERING THE PROP. AFTER COMPLETING SOME SINGLE ENG DEMONSTRATIONS, WE ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART THE ENG. WE ELECTED TO LAND AT ZZZ AND TRY TO GET THE PROP UNFEATHERED ON THE GND. ON LNDG, THE R MAIN TOUCHED DOWN FOLLOWED BY THE L. I FELT THE L MAIN TOUCH AND GIVE WAY AND THE WING STARTED TO SINK. WHEN THE WING TOUCHED THE GND, THE NOSE STARTED TO COLLAPSE AND THE R ENG BECAME IN DANGER OF A PROP STRIKE, SO I PULLED ITS MIXTURE. NO ONE WAS HURT NOR WAS THE ARPT DAMAGED. I WAS UNAWARE THAT THE GEAR LOCKS ARE HYD. IN THE PIPER SEMINOLE, IF THE GEAR IS RELEASED SPRINGS WILL PULL IT DOWN AND LOCK INTO PLACE. I AM UNFAMILIAR WITH THE FINER POINTS ON THIS ACFT'S SYS AND WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A 15 HR CHK OUT FOR RENTAL.
