Narrative:

I landed a C182 at the beginning of a 2 mi long runway. I was told to keep my speed up and continue to the end of the runway. The turn off was at the end of the runway. I was taxiing at 40 KTS, too fast to turn off. It was dark and I couldn't see the turn off or the end of the runway prior to being there. I ran off the end rather than attempt to turn at that speed. There were 2 turnoffs to txwys, prior to the one at the end. If I were told to use one of those, I could have gotten off the runway sooner and been able to taxi at a slower speed.
