Narrative:

While at cruise a right engine amber 'thrust reverser unlocked' annunciated. No other abnormal indications were noted. The QRH procedure states that if no yaw, loss of airspeed or buffet, operate engine normally. The captain chose to take a more conservative approach, and to divert to ZZZ. Because ATC would not give us a clearance out of altitude without declaring an emergency, one was declared and an uneventful landing was made.

Title: DIVERSION BY A B757-200 FLT CREW WHEN THE REVERSER ANNUNCIATOR WARNING ALERTS THEM TO A POSSIBLE UNLOCKED CONDITION.

Narrative: WHILE AT CRUISE A R ENG AMBER 'THRUST REVERSER UNLOCKED' ANNUNCIATED. NO OTHER ABNORMAL INDICATIONS WERE NOTED. THE QRH PROC STATES THAT IF NO YAW, LOSS OF AIRSPD OR BUFFET, OPERATE ENG NORMALLY. THE CAPT CHOSE TO TAKE A MORE CONSERVATIVE APCH, AND TO DIVERT TO ZZZ. BECAUSE ATC WOULD NOT GIVE US A CLRNC OUT OF ALT WITHOUT DECLARING AN EMER, ONE WAS DECLARED AND AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG WAS MADE.
