Narrative:
During a slide shop team meeting held apr/thu/04, supervisor questioned the due date in maintenance history computer for serial number X, installed on aircraft. Was called by maintenance records to verify the paperwork and discovered that the slide was overdue due to a misunderstanding of the yrly functional test requirement of slides that reached 15 yrs since their date of manufacture. Immediately upon the discovery, supervisor contacted planning to request the slide be removed. Records initiated an audit to ensure that no other slide dates had been incorrectly entered. Maintenance history records showed slides installed on other aircraft were discovered also as being overdue. Planning was notified and all slides were scheduled and removed by the end of the day.
