Narrative:
Off-wing slide was replaced on overnight visit. Rii (required installation inspection) was not accomplished. During rct (recurrent training) class that amt (aircraft maintenance technician) attended, rii items were discussed. Some of them were new additions, which included off-wing slides. Since the amt that attended the class recently changed an off-wing slide he realized that he did not get an inspection, since it is not in the replacement procedure in the maintenance manual. The aircraft is now at the maintenance base where it is being inspected. I released the aircraft to service. Add the inspection item to the maintenance manual procedure. Merely having a briefing item is not enough. The whole purpose for having maintenance manuals on the computer was so the procedures can be easily updated.

Title: AN AIRBUS 320 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH AN OVER-WING ESCAPE SLIDE REPLACEMENT NOT HAVING THE FAA REQUIRED INSPECTION.
Narrative: OFF-WING SLIDE WAS REPLACED ON OVERNIGHT VISIT. RII (REQUIRED INSTALLATION INSPECTION) WAS NOT ACCOMPLISHED. DURING RCT (RECURRENT TRAINING) CLASS THAT AMT (ACFT MAINT TECHNICIAN) ATTENDED, RII ITEMS WERE DISCUSSED. SOME OF THEM WERE NEW ADDITIONS, WHICH INCLUDED OFF-WING SLIDES. SINCE THE AMT THAT ATTENDED THE CLASS RECENTLY CHANGED AN OFF-WING SLIDE HE REALIZED THAT HE DID NOT GET AN INSPECTION, SINCE IT IS NOT IN THE REPLACEMENT PROC IN THE MAINT MANUAL. THE ACFT IS NOW AT THE MAINT BASE WHERE IT IS BEING INSPECTED. I RELEASED THE ACFT TO SVC. ADD THE INSPECTION ITEM TO THE MAINT MANUAL PROC. MERELY HAVING A BRIEFING ITEM IS NOT ENOUGH. THE WHOLE PURPOSE FOR HAVING MAINT MANUALS ON THE COMPUTER WAS SO THE PROCS CAN BE EASILY UPDATED.
