Narrative:
Teb 5 departure from runway 24 at teb. I was supposed to climb to 1500 ft MSL and turn to a heading of 280 degrees. I had altitude select turned on and set for 1500 ft, but on departure, I trimmed nose down, which turned altitude select 'off.' by the time I realized this, and caught up with the aircraft to correct, I was at 1900 ft. It was a stupid mistake and I attribute it to low time in type and depending too much on the autoplt. Additional training has been conducted on the autoplt system and situation awareness. I believe this will prevent this type of problem from happening again.
