Narrative:

I was conducting a CFI check ride and was sitting in the left seat. We were in right closed traffic for runway 21R. Tower instructed the aircraft in front of us to extend upwind to a known landmark. The same instruction was given to us as well. Once established on downwind, tower pointed the traffic we were to follow and, we found and idented it. I looked out the left side window to insure no one was inbound on the right 45 degree entry. As I turned my head to the right to look about the opposite side, a C172 emerged from below and filled the entire window. The aircraft was in a climbing right bank. I immediately took the flight controls, banked approximately 50 degrees, and decreased the pitch attitude descending from 6000 ft to 5500 ft. I would estimate that we missed contacting each other by less than 30 ft. It is my understanding that the second aircraft was instructed to follow us.

Title: A C182RG CHK PLT RPTED AN NMAC AT PRC WITH ANOTHER TRAINING ACFT.

Narrative: I WAS CONDUCTING A CFI CHK RIDE AND WAS SITTING IN THE L SEAT. WE WERE IN R CLOSED TFC FOR RWY 21R. TWR INSTRUCTED THE ACFT IN FRONT OF US TO EXTEND UPWIND TO A KNOWN LANDMARK. THE SAME INSTRUCTION WAS GIVEN TO US AS WELL. ONCE ESTABLISHED ON DOWNWIND, TWR POINTED THE TFC WE WERE TO FOLLOW AND, WE FOUND AND IDENTED IT. I LOOKED OUT THE L SIDE WINDOW TO INSURE NO ONE WAS INBOUND ON THE R 45 DEG ENTRY. AS I TURNED MY HEAD TO THE R TO LOOK ABOUT THE OPPOSITE SIDE, A C172 EMERGED FROM BELOW AND FILLED THE ENTIRE WINDOW. THE ACFT WAS IN A CLBING R BANK. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE FLT CTLS, BANKED APPROX 50 DEGS, AND DECREASED THE PITCH ATTITUDE DSNDING FROM 6000 FT TO 5500 FT. I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT WE MISSED CONTACTING EACH OTHER BY LESS THAN 30 FT. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE SECOND ACFT WAS INSTRUCTED TO FOLLOW US.
