Narrative:
Rudder trim failed during climb. Would trim right, but not left. After evaluating the situation, the decision was made to divert to ZZZ. We declared an emergency due to the flight control failure. We elected to land approximately 1000 pounds. Overweight. Landed without incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the loss of left rudder trim was caused by a failed rudder trim switch located on the pedestal. The reporter said the right rudder trim was normal.
