Narrative:

Initially, I had planned a cross country flight to provincetown, ma (pvc), departing teb at XA00Z, for which I prepared a flight plan and received a duat WX briefing. Due to street traffic and dispatch delays at the FBO, my departure was delayed to about XA50Z. The WX forecast (now indicating 4 SM visibility from XC00Z), however, combined with the delayed departure made me rethink my planned route of flight, since I absolutely wanted to avoid VFR night flight in marginal VFR conditions. I therefore decided, in lieu of the planned cross country flight, to do a short local flight sebound, in order to maintain my renter currency at that FBO. I checked the WX and NOTAMS for the new route of flight, sebound along the hudson river towards blm. During the approach back into teb, I took the hudson class B exclusion northbound, maintaining an altitude of 1000 ft MSL in order to maintain separation from the overlying class B airspace. About 7 mi southeast of teb, after receiving the current ATIS information, I attempted to contact teb tower for landing instructions. The controller appeared to be very busy at the time and from the ATIS information, I anticipated arrival instructions for runway 24. Teb class D airspace begins at the western shore of the hudson river, which I couldn't enter without establishing 2-WAY communications with teb tower. Therefore, I decided to continue northbound above the hudson river towards the alpine tower (which lines up for a straight in approach for runway 24). The tower gave me instructions to proceed straight-in for runway 24, then asked me to make a right 360 degrees, which I did. After that, I was cleared for landing on runway 24. I was aware of the fact that a game was scheduled at yankee stadium for that night, and I know the content of fdc NOTAM 3/1862. However, since the location of yankee stadium is not shown either on the new york VFR terminal area chart, or on the new york sectional chart, and there was no radial/distance nor latitude/longitude given in any special tfr, I was unaware of the fact that I could possibly violate a tfr with this route of flight. I later realized, that, even though I was approaching teb airport for landing, by flying up the hudson river at that time (approximately XB50Z) without being able to establish contact with teb tower, I may have violated a potentially active tfr around yankee stadium.

Title: POSSIBLE TFR VIOLATION BY A LOW TIME C172 PVT PLT E OF TEB, NJ.

Narrative: INITIALLY, I HAD PLANNED A XCOUNTRY FLT TO PROVINCETOWN, MA (PVC), DEPARTING TEB AT XA00Z, FOR WHICH I PREPARED A FLT PLAN AND RECEIVED A DUAT WX BRIEFING. DUE TO STREET TFC AND DISPATCH DELAYS AT THE FBO, MY DEP WAS DELAYED TO ABOUT XA50Z. THE WX FORECAST (NOW INDICATING 4 SM VISIBILITY FROM XC00Z), HOWEVER, COMBINED WITH THE DELAYED DEP MADE ME RETHINK MY PLANNED RTE OF FLT, SINCE I ABSOLUTELY WANTED TO AVOID VFR NIGHT FLT IN MARGINAL VFR CONDITIONS. I THEREFORE DECIDED, IN LIEU OF THE PLANNED XCOUNTRY FLT, TO DO A SHORT LCL FLT SEBOUND, IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN MY RENTER CURRENCY AT THAT FBO. I CHKED THE WX AND NOTAMS FOR THE NEW RTE OF FLT, SEBOUND ALONG THE HUDSON RIVER TOWARDS BLM. DURING THE APCH BACK INTO TEB, I TOOK THE HUDSON CLASS B EXCLUSION NBOUND, MAINTAINING AN ALT OF 1000 FT MSL IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN SEPARATION FROM THE OVERLYING CLASS B AIRSPACE. ABOUT 7 MI SE OF TEB, AFTER RECEIVING THE CURRENT ATIS INFO, I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT TEB TWR FOR LNDG INSTRUCTIONS. THE CTLR APPEARED TO BE VERY BUSY AT THE TIME AND FROM THE ATIS INFO, I ANTICIPATED ARR INSTRUCTIONS FOR RWY 24. TEB CLASS D AIRSPACE BEGINS AT THE WESTERN SHORE OF THE HUDSON RIVER, WHICH I COULDN'T ENTER WITHOUT ESTABLISHING 2-WAY COMS WITH TEB TWR. THEREFORE, I DECIDED TO CONTINUE NBOUND ABOVE THE HUDSON RIVER TOWARDS THE ALPINE TWR (WHICH LINES UP FOR A STRAIGHT IN APCH FOR RWY 24). THE TWR GAVE ME INSTRUCTIONS TO PROCEED STRAIGHT-IN FOR RWY 24, THEN ASKED ME TO MAKE A R 360 DEGS, WHICH I DID. AFTER THAT, I WAS CLRED FOR LNDG ON RWY 24. I WAS AWARE OF THE FACT THAT A GAME WAS SCHEDULED AT YANKEE STADIUM FOR THAT NIGHT, AND I KNOW THE CONTENT OF FDC NOTAM 3/1862. HOWEVER, SINCE THE LOCATION OF YANKEE STADIUM IS NOT SHOWN EITHER ON THE NEW YORK VFR TERMINAL AREA CHART, OR ON THE NEW YORK SECTIONAL CHART, AND THERE WAS NO RADIAL/DISTANCE NOR LATITUDE/LONGITUDE GIVEN IN ANY SPECIAL TFR, I WAS UNAWARE OF THE FACT THAT I COULD POSSIBLY VIOLATE A TFR WITH THIS RTE OF FLT. I LATER REALIZED, THAT, EVEN THOUGH I WAS APCHING TEB ARPT FOR LNDG, BY FLYING UP THE HUDSON RIVER AT THAT TIME (APPROX XB50Z) WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO ESTABLISH CONTACT WITH TEB TWR, I MAY HAVE VIOLATED A POTENTIALLY ACTIVE TFR AROUND YANKEE STADIUM.
