Narrative:
Pilot called in that elac #1 fault light on, 20 mins before departure. I sent avionics mechanic out to aircraft. He called back that he could not fix the elac, so I wrote up the problem and started to defer. When I went through the MEL list, I saw MEL 27540 and the title was elac fault light. Subtitle was 'fault' light on elac push button switch, but after the aircraft left we found out that was for light being out, not the elac inoperative, and should have been MEL 27530 title elevator aileron computers elac.
