Narrative:
Taxi out for takeoff. Had taxi/airport layout charts out. About midway, encountered heavy rain. The runway hold short line for runway 9L and runway 12 is a long ways from the runway. I knew this from the airport taxi chart and was expecting this. Due to the heavy rain and the angle of the afternoon sun, I could not find nor did I see the hold short lines. The taxiway had a 'shiney' appearance to it that made it impossible to see any lines painted on it. Tower called and said for us to stop. By then I was 100 ft past the lines painted on it. Supplemental information from acn 622337: we were told to stop and that we had passed the hold short line of runways 9L and 12 by about 100 ft. We were then told to taxi into position and hold on runway 12 and shortly thereafter, were cleared for takeoff. Neither one of us saw the hold short line and we think it was because of the short rain shower that came and went just as we were taxiing out.

Title: LCL CTLR INTERVENTION AS A TAXIING B737 FLT CREW PASSES THE 'FAR AWAY' HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 9L AND RWY 12 DURING INCLEMENT WX CONDITIONS AT MIA.
Narrative: TAXI OUT FOR TKOF. HAD TAXI/ARPT LAYOUT CHARTS OUT. ABOUT MIDWAY, ENCOUNTERED HVY RAIN. THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 9L AND RWY 12 IS A LONG WAYS FROM THE RWY. I KNEW THIS FROM THE ARPT TAXI CHART AND WAS EXPECTING THIS. DUE TO THE HVY RAIN AND THE ANGLE OF THE AFTERNOON SUN, I COULD NOT FIND NOR DID I SEE THE HOLD SHORT LINES. THE TXWY HAD A 'SHINEY' APPEARANCE TO IT THAT MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANY LINES PAINTED ON IT. TWR CALLED AND SAID FOR US TO STOP. BY THEN I WAS 100 FT PAST THE LINES PAINTED ON IT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 622337: WE WERE TOLD TO STOP AND THAT WE HAD PASSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE OF RWYS 9L AND 12 BY ABOUT 100 FT. WE WERE THEN TOLD TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 12 AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. NEITHER ONE OF US SAW THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND WE THINK IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE SHORT RAIN SHOWER THAT CAME AND WENT JUST AS WE WERE TAXIING OUT.
