Narrative:
Inadvertent penetration of R6601 (fort a.P. Hill aph restr area) from surface to 5000 ft MSL. At 2000 ft MSL, MVFR, student became confused. Used VOR NAVAID to locate and navigation. Upon identing possible penetration, made 90 degree right turn to vacate restr airspace. We idented terrain features, which coincide with a.P. Hill features. No ATC notification received, no FAA notification either.

Title: A CFI ADMITTED THAT HE AND HIS STUDENT, FLYING A C172 VIOLATED R6001 RESTR AIRSPACE OVER APH.
Narrative: INADVERTENT PENETRATION OF R6601 (FORT A.P. HILL APH RESTR AREA) FROM SURFACE TO 5000 FT MSL. AT 2000 FT MSL, MVFR, STUDENT BECAME CONFUSED. USED VOR NAVAID TO LOCATE AND NAV. UPON IDENTING POSSIBLE PENETRATION, MADE 90 DEG R TURN TO VACATE RESTR AIRSPACE. WE IDENTED TERRAIN FEATURES, WHICH COINCIDE WITH A.P. HILL FEATURES.
