Narrative:
On arrival into gso, a right thrust reverser unlocked caution message displayed. We were descending through 12000 ft. Thrust levers were just above idle. First officer completed memory items and QRH message did not go away. QRH directed us to land at nearest suitable airport. We declared an emergency and landed at gso uneventfully. Maintenance, dispatch, flight attendant and passenger were all advised. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that, when on the ground, maintenance checked the reverser for being locked in the forward thrust position and deferred the right reverser per the MEL and accomplished the special procedures.
