Narrative:
Filed IFR flight plan lnc to sus. Received clearance from ft worth TRACON via cell phone (cleared sus via enter controled airspace via 090 degree heading, radar vectors for hubbard 5 departure procedure, texarkana transition, direct, maintain 2000 ft, expect 13000 ft about 10 mins after departure, frequency 125.2, squawk xabc. Following departure and climb out VFR from lnc, all EFIS screens blanked. Screen rebooted only to fail again. Climbed to 2000 ft MSL and turned to approximately 090 degrees (clearance from ft worth) utilizing standby gauges. After a couple of mins, pilot rated passenger noticed popped circuit breaker for voltage regulator had popped. Now noticed all other equipment out or reinitializing, including radios/GPS (no communication/no transponder). Reset circuit breaker and EFIS screen came up momentarily. Estimated now clear of class B airspace so I commenced climb to 6500 ft and turned northeast. Commenced to shut down primary alternator and energize secondary alternator. Secured unnecessary electrical equipment including #2 and #3 EFIS. Transponder would not come on line. Rebooted #1 EFIS. Re-entered flight information into #1 EFIS and GPS #1 communication now on line but transponder still out. Determined flight could proceed safely with #2 alternator. Contacted ft worth approach on 125.2 and advised them of my problem. They seemed agitated that I had not contacted them earlier as they had to block airspace for me. I explained I had an electrical problem and could not talk earlier and had no transponder. Transponder was still not on at that point. I told them I intended to maintain VFR and continue to destination VFR. They gave me a phone number to call on deck. Contacted TRACON supervisor on landing. He agreed that I had emergency authority/authorized to deviate but was upset that I had not called earlier or done something different. I felt that I had followed far 91.183 and, given my communication problem, had maintained VFR and landed as soon as practicable. Aviate, navigation, communicate.

Title: AFTER A HDG AND ALTDEV, FTW TRACON IS UPSET WITH AN LNC4 ATP PLT WHEN HE LOSES 1 ALTERNATOR, VHF COM AND XPONDER DURING A VFR CLB FOR AN IFR CLRNC E OF LNC.
Narrative: FILED IFR FLT PLAN LNC TO SUS. RECEIVED CLRNC FROM FT WORTH TRACON VIA CELL PHONE (CLRED SUS VIA ENTER CTLED AIRSPACE VIA 090 DEG HDG, RADAR VECTORS FOR HUBBARD 5 DEP PROC, TEXARKANA TRANSITION, DIRECT, MAINTAIN 2000 FT, EXPECT 13000 FT ABOUT 10 MINS AFTER DEP, FREQ 125.2, SQUAWK XABC. FOLLOWING DEP AND CLBOUT VFR FROM LNC, ALL EFIS SCREENS BLANKED. SCREEN REBOOTED ONLY TO FAIL AGAIN. CLBED TO 2000 FT MSL AND TURNED TO APPROX 090 DEGS (CLRNC FROM FT WORTH) UTILIZING STANDBY GAUGES. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINS, PLT RATED PAX NOTICED POPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR VOLTAGE REGULATOR HAD POPPED. NOW NOTICED ALL OTHER EQUIP OUT OR REINITIALIZING, INCLUDING RADIOS/GPS (NO COM/NO XPONDER). RESET CIRCUIT BREAKER AND EFIS SCREEN CAME UP MOMENTARILY. ESTIMATED NOW CLR OF CLASS B AIRSPACE SO I COMMENCED CLB TO 6500 FT AND TURNED NE. COMMENCED TO SHUT DOWN PRIMARY ALTERNATOR AND ENERGIZE SECONDARY ALTERNATOR. SECURED UNNECESSARY ELECTRICAL EQUIP INCLUDING #2 AND #3 EFIS. XPONDER WOULD NOT COME ON LINE. REBOOTED #1 EFIS. RE-ENTERED FLT INFO INTO #1 EFIS AND GPS #1 COM NOW ON LINE BUT XPONDER STILL OUT. DETERMINED FLT COULD PROCEED SAFELY WITH #2 ALTERNATOR. CONTACTED FT WORTH APCH ON 125.2 AND ADVISED THEM OF MY PROB. THEY SEEMED AGITATED THAT I HAD NOT CONTACTED THEM EARLIER AS THEY HAD TO BLOCK AIRSPACE FOR ME. I EXPLAINED I HAD AN ELECTRICAL PROB AND COULD NOT TALK EARLIER AND HAD NO XPONDER. XPONDER WAS STILL NOT ON AT THAT POINT. I TOLD THEM I INTENDED TO MAINTAIN VFR AND CONTINUE TO DEST VFR. THEY GAVE ME A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL ON DECK. CONTACTED TRACON SUPVR ON LNDG. HE AGREED THAT I HAD EMER AUTH TO DEVIATE BUT WAS UPSET THAT I HAD NOT CALLED EARLIER OR DONE SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I FELT THAT I HAD FOLLOWED FAR 91.183 AND, GIVEN MY COM PROB, HAD MAINTAINED VFR AND LANDED AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE. AVIATE, NAV, COMMUNICATE.
