Narrative:
After landing runway 17L we were told to hold short of runway 17R. As we approached the hold short line for runway 17R we saw a BE02 land on runway 17R, so we told tower we were holding short of runway 17R in hopes we could maintain our momentum up the hill and cross runway 17R. Tower told us to hold short of runway 17R and we acknowledged. After we came to a stop at the hold line the tower controller cleared, 'air carrier X abc cross runway 17R.' this was the wrong call sign for us but someone else answered with 'cleared to cross runway 17R.' I believe this instruction was taken by air carrier Y abc who was behind us. Tower then said 'air carrier X abd cross runway 17R' and then I believe in a later transmission (a few seconds later) tower said, 'air carrier X abd expedite across runway 17R traffic 2 mi final,' and we acknowledged. Several seconds later tower told us to hold our position. Tower then asked us if we were clear of runway 17R and I told him we were not and were 100 ft from the runway. About that time we saw a BAE146 going around from a short final (ceiling was about 250-300 ft overcast). We were then switched to 133.3 and told by that tower controller to cross runway 17R. When given the clearance to cross I used more than maximum breakaway thrust (knowing there were no hazards behind us) to begin moving but motion was slow to begin as this is uphill location. I believe that with the delay to receive the crossing clearance because of the communication errors we were not allowed enough time to cross the runway for the spacing on the arrival traffic. I also believe the aircraft was closer than 2 mi final when we were cleared to cross. In the future I will leave TCASII on and would also advise ATC if I expect our acceleration to be slower than normal.

Title: B737 FLT CREW EXPERIENCED RWY XING CLRNC CONFUSION AT DEN RESULTING IN GAR.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG RWY 17L WE WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17R. AS WE APCHED THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 17R WE SAW A BE02 LAND ON RWY 17R, SO WE TOLD TWR WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 17R IN HOPES WE COULD MAINTAIN OUR MOMENTUM UP THE HILL AND CROSS RWY 17R. TWR TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17R AND WE ACKNOWLEDGED. AFTER WE CAME TO A STOP AT THE HOLD LINE THE TWR CTLR CLRED, 'ACR X ABC CROSS RWY 17R.' THIS WAS THE WRONG CALL SIGN FOR US BUT SOMEONE ELSE ANSWERED WITH 'CLRED TO CROSS RWY 17R.' I BELIEVE THIS INSTRUCTION WAS TAKEN BY ACR Y ABC WHO WAS BEHIND US. TWR THEN SAID 'ACR X ABD CROSS RWY 17R' AND THEN I BELIEVE IN A LATER XMISSION (A FEW SECONDS LATER) TWR SAID, 'ACR X ABD EXPEDITE ACROSS RWY 17R TFC 2 MI FINAL,' AND WE ACKNOWLEDGED. SEVERAL SECONDS LATER TWR TOLD US TO HOLD OUR POS. TWR THEN ASKED US IF WE WERE CLR OF RWY 17R AND I TOLD HIM WE WERE NOT AND WERE 100 FT FROM THE RWY. ABOUT THAT TIME WE SAW A BAE146 GOING AROUND FROM A SHORT FINAL (CEILING WAS ABOUT 250-300 FT OVCST). WE WERE THEN SWITCHED TO 133.3 AND TOLD BY THAT TWR CTLR TO CROSS RWY 17R. WHEN GIVEN THE CLRNC TO CROSS I USED MORE THAN MAX BREAKAWAY THRUST (KNOWING THERE WERE NO HAZARDS BEHIND US) TO BEGIN MOVING BUT MOTION WAS SLOW TO BEGIN AS THIS IS UPHILL LOCATION. I BELIEVE THAT WITH THE DELAY TO RECEIVE THE XING CLRNC BECAUSE OF THE COM ERRORS WE WERE NOT ALLOWED ENOUGH TIME TO CROSS THE RWY FOR THE SPACING ON THE ARR TFC. I ALSO BELIEVE THE ACFT WAS CLOSER THAN 2 MI FINAL WHEN WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS. IN THE FUTURE I WILL LEAVE TCASII ON AND WOULD ALSO ADVISE ATC IF I EXPECT OUR ACCELERATION TO BE SLOWER THAN NORMAL.
