Narrative:
We were cleared to land on runway 18R in cvg. On short final, I heard tower clear an air carrier Y plane to take off O runway 27. I realized that the air carrier Y was taking off on an intersecting runway as we were very close to landing. Since I could not see the air carrier Y jet, I instructed the first officer to land and start braking immediately. I knew we could stop prior to the intersection which we did. No conflict occurred.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 18R IN CVG. ON SHORT FINAL, I HEARD TWR CLR AN ACR Y PLANE TO TAKE OFF O RWY 27. I REALIZED THAT THE ACR Y WAS TAKING OFF ON AN INTERSECTING RWY AS WE WERE VERY CLOSE TO LNDG. SINCE I COULD NOT SEE THE ACR Y JET, I INSTRUCTED THE FO TO LAND AND START BRAKING IMMEDIATELY. I KNEW WE COULD STOP PRIOR TO THE INTXN WHICH WE DID. NO CONFLICT OCCURRED.
