Narrative:

Iad tower cleared a saab 340 for takeoff on runway 19R. Controller then cleared us into position and hold followed by a takeoff clearance a few seconds later. While clearing us for takeoff controller issued a TA, the saab 340. Controller told us to maintain visual separation and to turn inside the saab to a heading of 330 degrees. As we climbed out faster, we caught the aircraft by both speed and altitude. We avoided the aircraft by increasing bank angle and rate of climb after getting a TA on our TCASII. In the future, I will not be rushed into a quick takeoff clearance until I am certain the traffic in front is faster and will out-climb me, and will be heading in a different direction.

Title: IAD ATCT LCL CTLR CLRS AN SF34 FOR TKOF AND A FEW SECONDS LATER CLRS AN H25B RESTR TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION AND TURN INSIDE THE SAAB.

Narrative: IAD TWR CLRED A SAAB 340 FOR TKOF ON RWY 19R. CTLR THEN CLRED US INTO POS AND HOLD FOLLOWED BY A TKOF CLRNC A FEW SECONDS LATER. WHILE CLRING US FOR TKOF CTLR ISSUED A TA, THE SAAB 340. CTLR TOLD US TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION AND TO TURN INSIDE THE SAAB TO A HDG OF 330 DEGS. AS WE CLBED OUT FASTER, WE CAUGHT THE ACFT BY BOTH SPD AND ALT. WE AVOIDED THE ACFT BY INCREASING BANK ANGLE AND RATE OF CLB AFTER GETTING A TA ON OUR TCASII. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL NOT BE RUSHED INTO A QUICK TKOF CLRNC UNTIL I AM CERTAIN THE TFC IN FRONT IS FASTER AND WILL OUT-CLB ME, AND WILL BE HDG IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION.
