Narrative:
Departed oeo en route to jvl. Spoke with FSS day before and looked at WX over computer on that morning but did not call 1-800-wxbrief before departing oeo. Called flight watch 2 times after departure, but was unable to establish contact because I was too low. Climbed to 5500 ft MSL and called green bay FSS through the eau remote communication site only to find that there was a tfr within 30 NM of eau. I checked my GPS and found that I was within 22 NM of eau. I changed my course to get out of the tfr and, as I was turning away, I was intercepted by an F16. I rocked my wings to acknowledge and tried to follow. Called ZMP to acknowledge the intercept and followed instructions to clear the area. Once clear of area (tfr) I continued on course, not landing at jul, but at our farm landing strip (3w16). I fell between the cracks on this one. Made many efforts to get the information, but it just did not happen for various reasons. The fault is mine as I should have called 1-800-wxbrief before departure.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A SINGLE PLT UNINTENTIONALLY VIOLATED A TFR 22 NM W OF EAU AND WAS INTERCEPTED BY AN F16 AND WAS TOLD BY ZMP TO CLR THE AREA.
Narrative: DEPARTED OEO ENRTE TO JVL. SPOKE WITH FSS DAY BEFORE AND LOOKED AT WX OVER COMPUTER ON THAT MORNING BUT DID NOT CALL 1-800-WXBRIEF BEFORE DEPARTING OEO. CALLED FLT WATCH 2 TIMES AFTER DEP, BUT WAS UNABLE TO ESTABLISH CONTACT BECAUSE I WAS TOO LOW. CLBED TO 5500 FT MSL AND CALLED GREEN BAY FSS THROUGH THE EAU REMOTE COM SITE ONLY TO FIND THAT THERE WAS A TFR WITHIN 30 NM OF EAU. I CHKED MY GPS AND FOUND THAT I WAS WITHIN 22 NM OF EAU. I CHANGED MY COURSE TO GET OUT OF THE TFR AND, AS I WAS TURNING AWAY, I WAS INTERCEPTED BY AN F16. I ROCKED MY WINGS TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND TRIED TO FOLLOW. CALLED ZMP TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE INTERCEPT AND FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS TO CLR THE AREA. ONCE CLR OF AREA (TFR) I CONTINUED ON COURSE, NOT LNDG AT JUL, BUT AT OUR FARM LNDG STRIP (3W16). I FELL BTWN THE CRACKS ON THIS ONE. MADE MANY EFFORTS TO GET THE INFO, BUT IT JUST DID NOT HAPPEN FOR VARIOUS REASONS. THE FAULT IS MINE AS I SHOULD HAVE CALLED 1-800-WXBRIEF BEFORE DEP.
