Narrative:
I was called out on aircraft X regarding log page X and the flight crew needed an explanation on why the log page was cleared by changing only the left fuel inlet pressure switch while the write-up was for both the l-hand and r-hand. Moreover they wanted to know the reference given in the signoff. I researched the information and was unable to provide them with a complete explanation. So I notified my supervisor and started a check out on both center boost pumps and both fuel inlet pressure switches using center pumps. Upon xferring fuel out of center tank, both inlet pressure lights flickered using center forward pump and right inlet pressure flickered using center aft pump. At this point I generated a log page, xx, and I short signed what I did and what I found and I tied-in to the oncoming swing shift. Log page X was closed out with incomplete work. The reference given is a letter to operators which has nothing to do with the discrepancy. All it talks about is center pumps low pressure indication, not inlet pressure lights. Log page xx the one I generated and short-signed, the information I put in was xferred to a different log page X. In other words, to look up what I short signed on log page xx you have to go to a log page X and I am not sure that this is a legal documentation.

Title: AN MD80 CREW WAS CONFUSED OVER LOGBOOK SIGNOFFS FOR A L AND R FUEL INLET PRESSURE PROB WHEN ONLY THE L SWITCH WAS REPLACED.
Narrative: I WAS CALLED OUT ON ACFT X REGARDING LOG PAGE X AND THE FLT CREW NEEDED AN EXPLANATION ON WHY THE LOG PAGE WAS CLRED BY CHANGING ONLY THE L FUEL INLET PRESSURE SWITCH WHILE THE WRITE-UP WAS FOR BOTH THE L-HAND AND R-HAND. MOREOVER THEY WANTED TO KNOW THE REF GIVEN IN THE SIGNOFF. I RESEARCHED THE INFO AND WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE THEM WITH A COMPLETE EXPLANATION. SO I NOTIFIED MY SUPVR AND STARTED A CHK OUT ON BOTH CTR BOOST PUMPS AND BOTH FUEL INLET PRESSURE SWITCHES USING CTR PUMPS. UPON XFERRING FUEL OUT OF CTR TANK, BOTH INLET PRESSURE LIGHTS FLICKERED USING CTR FORWARD PUMP AND R INLET PRESSURE FLICKERED USING CTR AFT PUMP. AT THIS POINT I GENERATED A LOG PAGE, XX, AND I SHORT SIGNED WHAT I DID AND WHAT I FOUND AND I TIED-IN TO THE ONCOMING SWING SHIFT. LOG PAGE X WAS CLOSED OUT WITH INCOMPLETE WORK. THE REF GIVEN IS A LETTER TO OPERATORS WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DISCREPANCY. ALL IT TALKS ABOUT IS CTR PUMPS LOW PRESSURE INDICATION, NOT INLET PRESSURE LIGHTS. LOG PAGE XX THE ONE I GENERATED AND SHORT-SIGNED, THE INFO I PUT IN WAS XFERRED TO A DIFFERENT LOG PAGE X. IN OTHER WORDS, TO LOOK UP WHAT I SHORT SIGNED ON LOG PAGE XX YOU HAVE TO GO TO A LOG PAGE X AND I AM NOT SURE THAT THIS IS A LEGAL DOCUMENTATION.
