Narrative:
While talking to evansville ATC just west of pocket city VOR while wbound, experienced total electrical failure, which caused both radios, and transponder to shut down. Notified ATC via handheld radio of situation, canceled IFR, and landed at nearest airport. After talking with mechanic via telephone we determined that the generator failed. We charged the battery and returned home. As of this date aug/mon/04, the exact cause of failure has not been determined.
