Narrative:
On landing approach at dfw, we were given clearance to land and 2 airplanes were given clearance to cross our landing runway 35C. Ahead of us was A319 which had landed on runway 35C. When tower cleared the 2 aircraft to cross runway 35C, the A319 slowed and appeared to be clearing the runway. My attention had shifted to the crossing aircraft to make sure they were cleared before we landed. On touchdown, tower said air carrier xxy expedite, and I could then see that he was on the high speed taxiway but not completely clear of the hold short line. At no time did it appear there was a safety of flight issue.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FAILURE OF PRECEDING A319 TO CLR RWY RESULTS IN RWY INCURSION WITH RESPECT TO RPTR'S MD80 AT DFW.
Narrative: ON LNDG APCH AT DFW, WE WERE GIVEN CLRNC TO LAND AND 2 AIRPLANES WERE GIVEN CLRNC TO CROSS OUR LNDG RWY 35C. AHEAD OF US WAS A319 WHICH HAD LANDED ON RWY 35C. WHEN TWR CLRED THE 2 ACFT TO CROSS RWY 35C, THE A319 SLOWED AND APPEARED TO BE CLRING THE RWY. MY ATTN HAD SHIFTED TO THE XING ACFT TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE CLRED BEFORE WE LANDED. ON TOUCHDOWN, TWR SAID ACR XXY EXPEDITE, AND I COULD THEN SEE THAT HE WAS ON THE HIGH SPD TXWY BUT NOT COMPLETELY CLR OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE. AT NO TIME DID IT APPEAR THERE WAS A SAFETY OF FLT ISSUE.
