Narrative:

While working on aircraft X, it was brought to my attention that a door cover for the flight attendant seat oxygen was missing. I could not locate the cover in the aircraft. One was ordered but was not in stock. I wrote the discrepancy up in the logbook. The oxygen, mask, were not impaired and the airworthiness of the aircraft were not impaired. I contacted maintenance control and told them the problem about the door missing. We both agreed that a maintenance control deferral was ok. I could not see any reason to take the seat out under these conditions. Later the logbook was changed from my maintenance ctrl deferral to an MEL 25-23D. This seems to be a grey area.
