Narrative:
While taxiing into the gate at ord, I smelled smoke. I turned to look into the cabin, and it was filling with smoke in the middle of coach. I notified #1 flight attendant. She was unaware but notified captain. Passenger were starting to panic and were getting up. Captain didn't make a PA until we were pulling into the gate. He didn't call the flight attendants. We were not sure if we were going to evacuate/evacuation. First officer told us to 'prepare for arrival.' at this point it was really getting smoky. Passenger deplaned normally. We never were told what happened.
