Narrative:
While in cruise at FL410 on IFR flight plan from bur to ase, ZDV called and asked us our intentions since aspen was closed per NOTAM. Since we had previously reviewed the NOTAM and saw it expired on oct/thu/04 at XA00Z, I had thought the airport was open. (Takeoff time was XH46Z). The error was that I believed, that today was oct/thu/04. The real date was oct/wed/04. Once I (and my copilot) came to the realization that we were off on the date, we initially requested a divert to ege, our filed alternate. Then after receiving the ril (ASOS), we changed our destination to rifce, more passenger convenient. Contributing factors: both of us are fatigued due to high workload and continuous flight operations with very few breaks. Our situational awareness (what day is it?) was too low.

Title: AN ASTR G200 FLT CREW HAS TO DIVERT FROM ASE SINCE IT WAS STILL CLOSED AS PER NOTAM ISSUED. CREW THOUGHT THE DAY OF THE FLT WAS THE DAY AFTER ASE WAS TO BE OPENED. FOR PAX CONVENIENCE DIVERTED TO RIL.
