Narrative:
During climb out from sydney runway 34L, we heard a noise under the captain's feet that sounded like the gear door. Onboard mechanic and flight attendants reported momentary vibration, noise and smoke out of #2 engine. Air carrier Y reported a visual that confirmed smoke from same engine. All engines were operating normally, other than the momentary noise from #2. We returned to sydney for an uneventful landing and taxi.
