Narrative:
During takeoff at V1 experienced an unusual vibration. The vibration ceased after rotation. After checklists were complete during climb out contacted maintenance control. The decision was made to continue. Just to be on the safe side an emergency was declared and fire rescue was notified. Landed uneventfully. Experienced vibration after touchdown as nosewheel touched the runway. Vibration diminished to none as ground speed reduced. Upon further inspection it was determined that part of the tread on the left front tire was missing. (12 inches by 2 inches by 1/2 inch deep.) the tire remained inflated. No damage to the aircraft was noted.
