Narrative:

While observing cargo being loaded, I queried the load master about the tail stand not being installed. Another person loading stated that the tail stand was not needed for the load and that one was not available. We had a full load of cargo with takeoff weight around 100K pounds. I think this is an accident waiting to happen. It is my understanding that the tail stand is required for all loadings.

Title: B737-200C PLT QUESTIONS THE LACK OF TAIL STAND DURING CARGO LOADING.

Narrative: WHILE OBSERVING CARGO BEING LOADED, I QUERIED THE LOAD MASTER ABOUT THE TAIL STAND NOT BEING INSTALLED. ANOTHER PERSON LOADING STATED THAT THE TAIL STAND WAS NOT NEEDED FOR THE LOAD AND THAT ONE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. WE HAD A FULL LOAD OF CARGO WITH TKOF WT AROUND 100K LBS. I THINK THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE TAIL STAND IS REQUIRED FOR ALL LOADINGS.
