Narrative:
The strut panel was open by mistake and immediately reinstalled. It appeared to be secured and installed correctly. We had been inspecting for water in the strut drum control box area.

Title: A B737-400 ENG STRUT PANEL WAS OPENED BY MISTAKE AND THEN CLOSED. LATER FOUND MISSING AT NEXT STATION.
Narrative: THE STRUT PANEL WAS OPEN BY MISTAKE AND IMMEDIATELY REINSTALLED. IT APPEARED TO BE SECURED AND INSTALLED CORRECTLY. WE HAD BEEN INSPECTING FOR WATER IN THE STRUT DRUM CTL BOX AREA.
