Narrative:
Near midair collision, departing tyler, tx. On departure from tyr, climbing through about 1200 ft AGL, I was the PNF. I was busy completing the climb checklist when I glanced at the TCASII display and saw a yellow target showing 100 ft below our altitude. I told my first officer we had traffic and to climb now. He did exactly that, a little more abruptly than I anticipated. At the same time, I looked out my left side window and saw a small low wing aircraft pass below, extremely close to our aircraft. I queried ATC about the aircraft and they seemed to acknowledge they had him on radar but never attempted to notify us of this aircraft. I told them we had to climb rapidly to avoid him and we were handed off from longview approach to ZFW. I called the flight attendant to check with him and he confirmed that everyone was seated and no one was hurt when we abruptly climbed to miss that aircraft.
