Narrative:
On rollout at fat after landing on runway 29R, tower issued instructions to cross runway 29L. My first officer switched to ground before we crossed runway 29L and attempted contact with them. Immediately after making the call to ground, he switched back to tower realizing that we had not crossed runway 29L. After crossing runway 29L, he again switched to ground and asked to taxi to the gate. At this time ground asked if we had heard 'hold short of runway 29L.' to this my first officer replied 'no.' tower did not attempt contact with us prior to crossing or while crossing runway 29L other than the contact on rollout above. No further action was taken by the controller. No aircraft or ground vehicles were in the vicinity or on approach to runway 29L.

AT THIS TIME GND ASKED IF WE HAD HEARD 'HOLD SHORT OF RWY 29L.' TO THIS MY FO REPLIED 'NO.' TWR DID NOT ATTEMPT CONTACT WITH US PRIOR TO XING OR WHILE XING RWY 29L OTHER THAN THE CONTACT ON ROLLOUT ABOVE. NO FURTHER ACTION WAS TAKEN BY THE CTLR. NO ACFT OR GND VEHICLES WERE IN THE VICINITY OR ON APCH TO RWY 29L.
