Narrative:

The following laser light illumination occurred while on 5 mi final for runway 21L at dtw. Location: localizer centered on ILS runway 21L; 215 degree heading; approximately 2100 ft MSL; 16.2 DME off carleton VOR; approximately 5 mi from runway. I noticed a very bright red light off the left front of aircraft. The duration of the event was approximately 10 seconds with 3 aircraft. The duration of the event was approximately 10 seconds with 3 3-SECOND bright red illuminations tracking our aircraft. No direct hits to either pilot's eyes. No incapacitation. No safety of flight occurrences. Landed without incident. Reported and filed reports with: dtw ATC; dtw tsa; dtw fbi; air carrier union safety committee; and dtw metropolitan police. Supplemental information from acn 645621: the only minor effect it had on our flight was the fact that it did interrupt our landing confign sequence.

LOCATION: LOC CTRED ON ILS RWY 21L; 215 DEG HDG; APPROX 2100 FT MSL; 16.2 DME OFF CARLETON VOR; APPROX 5 MI FROM RWY. I NOTICED A VERY BRIGHT RED LIGHT OFF THE L FRONT OF ACFT. THE DURATION OF THE EVENT WAS APPROX 10 SECONDS WITH 3 ACFT. THE DURATION OF THE EVENT WAS APPROX 10 SECONDS WITH 3 3-SECOND BRIGHT RED ILLUMINATIONS TRACKING OUR ACFT. NO DIRECT HITS TO EITHER PLT'S EYES. NO INCAPACITATION. NO SAFETY OF FLT OCCURRENCES. LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. RPTED AND FILED RPTS WITH: DTW ATC; DTW TSA; DTW FBI; ACR UNION SAFETY COMMITTEE; AND DTW METRO POLICE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 645621: THE ONLY MINOR EFFECT IT HAD ON OUR FLT WAS THE FACT THAT IT DID INTERRUPT OUR LNDG CONFIGN SEQUENCE.
