Narrative:
After we parked in ZZZ; the crew left the plane to use the restrooms outside the hangar area. When we returned; the cargo workers were ready to load the aircraft; and the crew was ready to stand in the back and monitor the loading. The crew looked in the flight deck to see the #2 fire handle illuminated and the fire bell ringing. We do not know how long the light and bell were on for; because it is very loud in the back of the plane and the workers did not hear the bell. I silenced the bell and pulled the fire handle while the first officer went down to look at the engine. The handle light remained on and then eventually went out. Then the fire light and bell kept going on and off multiple times. It appeared that there was some sort of short in the system. There was a mechanic available and found the short was caused by the cowling smashing the wiring.
