Narrative:
Flight attendant reset circuit breaker on coffee maker in first class and got trace of smoke from coffee maker. An emergency was declared and diverted to ZZZ1. Uneventful approach and landing. Need to stress importance of notifying captain prior to taking action by flight attendants during CRM training.

Title: AN MD88 FLT ATTENDANT RESET A POPPED GALLEY COFFEE MAKER CIRCUIT BREAKER RESULTING IN SMOKE. CREW DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED.
Narrative: FLT ATTENDANT RESET CIRCUIT BREAKER ON COFFEE MAKER IN FIRST CLASS AND GOT TRACE OF SMOKE FROM COFFEE MAKER. AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND DIVERTED TO ZZZ1. UNEVENTFUL APCH AND LNDG. NEED TO STRESS IMPORTANCE OF NOTIFYING CAPT PRIOR TO TAKING ACTION BY FLT ATTENDANTS DURING CRM TRAINING.
