Narrative:
We got clearance and programmed GPS for teb 5 departure runway 6. Briefed with first officer on the special departure procedure. Passenger arrival; then we hurried to taxi out. Then ATC changed runways. We were first to takeoff from runway 24. We quickly briefed new procedure while doing taxi and takeoff checklists. On takeoff at 1500 ft we did turn to 280 degrees; then we initiated a shallow climb to 2000 ft. ATC in queried about our DME. At that time we realized we climbed too early to 2000 ft (3 DME versus 4.5 DME teb). I called ATC supervisor after landing and he thanked us for calling and assured us nothing happened. Next time; don't fall in the rush trap and take time to thoroughly brief the departure procedure.
