Narrative:
I was flying west from ZZZ1 airport. The WX report was for areas of snow and moderate turbulence. The intended destination was ZZZ. After checking the freeway to ZZZ and finding it closed due to snow; I turned around and found our course closing in due to snow. A large gravel airstrip was below so after checking for obstructions; I decided it would be safer to land. After the WX cleared two days later; I took off after obtaining permission from the sheriff.
