Narrative:
On jan/sat/05; I installed a flight data recorder on aircraft X with the wrong effectivity part. The flight data recorder was changed to the correct part on may/fri/05. I misread the ipc for correct effectivity for the flight data recorders installed. At the time of the event; I was not aware of the ipc software effectivity filter that can be applied to reduce any confusion on part effectivity.
