Narrative:
On walkaround; flight crew advised me by phone r-hand main landing gear outboard aft tire pressure low and #8 tire 110 psi. I contacted local contract maintenance to check pressure with a calibrated gauge. Tire pressure was 120 psi. I then checked the maintenance manual limits. My error was I used the nose landing gear tire pressure limits and deferred tire for 3 cycles. The main landing gear tire limits required the tire to be replaced and the mate could be deferred for 3 cycles. The aircraft continued to the next station with no problems and both tires were replaced.
