Narrative:
After performing a repositioning of a fuel control rod; the discrepancy was signed off and the aircraft pushed back. After #2 engine had been started by the flight crew and they were starting #3 engine; the #2 engine went to high thrust and caused the aircraft to overpwr the tug. This resulted in the aircraft breaking the tow bar and striking the tug; causing severe damage to the aircraft. No personnel were injured and the crew shut the engine down.
