Narrative:
We were taxiing into the ramp to park for the day. I (the captain) saw the ground service person sent to park us and turned the taxi light off and headed for her. She signaled me to turn to the left toward a fence that was on the edge of the ramp. We felt that she was bringing us too close to the fence since we had been here before and she kept signaling for us to get closer to the fence. I stated that I wasn't going any closer and I turned right to parallel the fence and taxi straight to her left. She had full view of our left wingtip as we came toward her. She made a signal for us to turn more toward the fence; which we refused to follow. Just before we reached her; she turned us slightly to the right and signaled to stop. Just before we stopped; we felt a bump like hitting a wheel chock with the side of our main gear. We struck a pole above the fence which she had us taxi with our wingtip over it with our left wingtip just behind the navigation lights on the front wingtip. Reasons for problem: 1) lack of wingwalker on left side of aircraft. 2) poor guidance by ground crew. 3) failure of captain to stop the aircraft when he realized taxi guidance was poor. 4) failure of first officer to stop aircraft when he realized taxi guidance was poor. 5) failure of flight engineer to state her concern with the taxi guidance. 6) failure of the company to have detailed taxi guidelines in manual. 7) failure of FBO to provide taxi lines or a parking spot for our aircraft. 8) failure of the captain to formulate in his mind when he needed to turn to the right to avoid the fence before his vision was restricted.

Title: A MARSHALLER GUIDED A B727-200 SO THAT ITS L WINGTIP STRUCK A POLE NEAR A FENCE ON A CLT RAMP WITH NO WINGWALKER PRESENT.
Narrative: WE WERE TAXIING INTO THE RAMP TO PARK FOR THE DAY. I (THE CAPT) SAW THE GND SERVICE PERSON SENT TO PARK US AND TURNED THE TAXI LIGHT OFF AND HEADED FOR HER. SHE SIGNALED ME TO TURN TO THE L TOWARD A FENCE THAT WAS ON THE EDGE OF THE RAMP. WE FELT THAT SHE WAS BRINGING US TOO CLOSE TO THE FENCE SINCE WE HAD BEEN HERE BEFORE AND SHE KEPT SIGNALING FOR US TO GET CLOSER TO THE FENCE. I STATED THAT I WASN'T GOING ANY CLOSER AND I TURNED R TO PARALLEL THE FENCE AND TAXI STRAIGHT TO HER L. SHE HAD FULL VIEW OF OUR L WINGTIP AS WE CAME TOWARD HER. SHE MADE A SIGNAL FOR US TO TURN MORE TOWARD THE FENCE; WHICH WE REFUSED TO FOLLOW. JUST BEFORE WE REACHED HER; SHE TURNED US SLIGHTLY TO THE R AND SIGNALED TO STOP. JUST BEFORE WE STOPPED; WE FELT A BUMP LIKE HITTING A WHEEL CHOCK WITH THE SIDE OF OUR MAIN GEAR. WE STRUCK A POLE ABOVE THE FENCE WHICH SHE HAD US TAXI WITH OUR WINGTIP OVER IT WITH OUR L WINGTIP JUST BEHIND THE NAV LIGHTS ON THE FRONT WINGTIP. REASONS FOR PROB: 1) LACK OF WINGWALKER ON L SIDE OF ACFT. 2) POOR GUIDANCE BY GND CREW. 3) FAILURE OF CAPT TO STOP THE ACFT WHEN HE REALIZED TAXI GUIDANCE WAS POOR. 4) FAILURE OF FO TO STOP ACFT WHEN HE REALIZED TAXI GUIDANCE WAS POOR. 5) FAILURE OF FLT ENGINEER TO STATE HER CONCERN WITH THE TAXI GUIDANCE. 6) FAILURE OF THE COMPANY TO HAVE DETAILED TAXI GUIDELINES IN MANUAL. 7) FAILURE OF FBO TO PROVIDE TAXI LINES OR A PARKING SPOT FOR OUR ACFT. 8) FAILURE OF THE CAPT TO FORMULATE IN HIS MIND WHEN HE NEEDED TO TURN TO THE R TO AVOID THE FENCE BEFORE HIS VISION WAS RESTRICTED.
