Narrative:
Inadvertently leveled off at 5000 ft for an extended period of time. When questioned by ATC; climbed to assigned altitude of 8000 ft. No aircraft conflicts existed. Both the captain and I missed this intermediate leveloff at the incorrect altitude. I believe that fatigue was a factor in this incident as the ron prior to this was a short overnight with little sleep for either of us.
