Narrative:
The flight and taxi in were uneventful. Upon stopping the aircraft; the parking brake was set; the control lock was engaged; and engines #1; #2; and #4 were shut down. Engine #3 was left running awaiting ground power. The cockpit lights were turned on and I conferred with the flight engineer about the wording of an aircraft write-up. The first officer noticed the aircraft rolling and both pilots immediately applied brakes. No injuries or aircraft damage was reported. Ground personnel stated they had to move a tug to prevent damage. Crew does not know why brakes released or failed to engage nor why chocks were not installed upon aircraft arrival.
