Narrative:

We were cleared for a visual by mci approach. We had the rotating beacon in sight. We clicked the runway lights but then could not see them. After circling the airport twice; we located the runway and landed. The sectional chart does not indicate a rotating beacon. The AFD says beacon; the commercial airport plate says there is a rotating beacon; but neither document tells/shows where the beacon is located. It is about 1.5 NM northwest of the runway. We couldn't find the runway because we were looking in the wrong place. How about a note in the AFD and approach plate stating that the rotating beacon is not at the airport but about 1.5 NM from the airport?
