Narrative:
On the night of oct/thu/05; I took aircraft X to a gate for the morning departure. When I was departing the airplane; I found the forward entry flashlight on the ground. The bracket for it was broken. I went to the line office to get a new bracket/flashlight assembly. I also consulted the maintenance manual; and there is nothing in the MD80 maintenance manual for right&right of an emergency flashlight. I went back to the aircraft and right&right'ed the flashlight/bracket assembly; exactly the way it was mounted when I found it. I filled out a log page; signed it off; and left the aircraft. One thing I would like to note is that the ipc shows these flashlight assemblies mounted with the retaining fingers up and in some cases down.
