Narrative:
Due to the approaching hurricane; my captain made several phone calls to scheduling to tell them that we would not be staying in ZZZ on sunday night due to the hurricane and that we needed to have 6 seats blocked so we can deadhead home. The crew scheduler said she could not guarantee any seats without company approval. We were given seats and returned to ZZZ1. Upon arrival in ZZZ1; the captain and myself were notified that we needed to contact crew scheduling as soon as possible. We spoke with crew scheduling. She said that she needed us to deadhead back to ZZZ on sunday to finish the remainder of our trip. After trying to tell her that we had been on duty for almost 14 hours and on the plane for over 11 hours; she said that it was perfectly legal. Captain tried to explain to her that the reason we chose to return was to avoid the hurricane. Both of us were extremely fatigued. She asked if we were refusing the trip which we said yes due to fatigue. Crew schedulers need to listen to flight crews about fatigue.
