Narrative:

During the phase inspection; the inspector made the following write-up: 'lowest decompression panel latch-coil spring and hinge pins not secured; flight deck door enhanced.' I removed a svcable latch off of a svcable door and installed it on the existing flight deck door. I subsequently learned the manufacturer of the door does not consider the latch to be a line replaceable unit. The aircraft was stopped and a new door assembly is being installed.

Title: A B737-700 LOWER DECOMPRESSION PANEL LATCH ON AN ENHANCED COCKPIT DOOR WAS REPLACED BY ROBBING THE LATCH FROM A SVCABLE DOOR. LATER FOUND NOT A LINE REPLACEABLE UNIT.

Narrative: DURING THE PHASE INSPECTION; THE INSPECTOR MADE THE FOLLOWING WRITE-UP: 'LOWEST DECOMPRESSION PANEL LATCH-COIL SPRING AND HINGE PINS NOT SECURED; FLT DECK DOOR ENHANCED.' I REMOVED A SVCABLE LATCH OFF OF A SVCABLE DOOR AND INSTALLED IT ON THE EXISTING FLT DECK DOOR. I SUBSEQUENTLY LEARNED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE DOOR DOES NOT CONSIDER THE LATCH TO BE A LINE REPLACEABLE UNIT. THE ACFT WAS STOPPED AND A NEW DOOR ASSEMBLY IS BEING INSTALLED.
