A pointout was accepted on aircraft X northbound direct martinsburg; wv; at 7000 ft. Aircraft were being sequenced to land at iad airport on the jasen 4 arrival. Aircraft Y was the third aircraft and had to miss V143 traffic; nebound at 9000 ft. Aircraft Y was descended to 6000 ft; slowed to 210 KTS for sequencing. The data block for aircraft X was overlapped by other data blocks; and information for his data block was not visually processed. Separation was lost and aircraft Y was vectored on a 040 degree heading to ensure safety.
