Narrative:
I did not provide enough lateral separation to these aircraft until the desired (required) 2000 ft vertical separation was achieved. I also considered 1000 ft vertical separation as acceptable; until it was too late and I realized that I needed 2000 ft.

Title: ZBW CTLR EXPERIENCED OPERROR AT FL410 AFTER FAILING TO REALIZE THE NECESSARY ALT SEPARATION WAS NOT BEING ACHIEVED.
Narrative: I DID NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH LATERAL SEPARATION TO THESE ACFT UNTIL THE DESIRED (REQUIRED) 2000 FT VERT SEPARATION WAS ACHIEVED. I ALSO CONSIDERED 1000 FT VERT SEPARATION AS ACCEPTABLE; UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE AND I REALIZED THAT I NEEDED 2000 FT.
