Narrative:
A lawnmower driver conflicted with my aircraft while I was landing. The lawnmower was not being used to mow but used as transportation. The mower operator started to cross the runway from his home which is on the airport. I had to make an aggressive turn to avoid hitting the mower; resulting in a nose-over and propeller strike; and damage to the engine and plane. The lawnmower and operator were not hit. WX was not a factor. Human factors: poor judgement; failure to maintain situational awareness; poor decision to use an old mower for personal transportation. Failure for airport owners to have guidelines for operating equipment on the airport. Corrective action: allow no equipment on the airport except for maintenance and service and have that equipment flagged when in operation.
